Life Drawing: preparing for a large drawing

Yesterday I blogged about broadening my observations in life drawing class so as to include more than just the life model in the drawings I make.

Flipping through my sketchbooks last night I found this sketch in one of my smaller books:



It's a preparation drawing, a study I made for the largest piece I've drawn in life drawing class to date:



It's drawn across two sheets of A2 size watercolour paper. You can probably tell quite clearly how the smaller sketch helped me work bigger.
