Cat Got Mouse

Here's a quick sketch of my cat wrestling with his toy mouse. A fun, often hilarious challenge because he never keeps still when he's in full-on play mode :)

Hamlet and Omelette

Hamlet_and_Omelette

BIG NEWS - we've adopted two cats.

Hamlet_and_Omelette_2

Hamlet (tabby) and Omelette (black & white) are brothers, just over a year old. Like most cats, they're hilarious to have around and enjoy doing cat-like things like sleeping, chasing stuff, eating and more sleeping.

Here's Hamlet asleep in his bed:

and here he is again with his favourite mouse:

We've discovered playing Jazz has a calming effect on them. Hamlet digs Miles Davis:

Character designs for Elizabeth Avenue

Here is some concept art I created for "Elizabeth Avenue", a picture book for children aged 6 -8. I was employed as Art Director and Illustrator on this project and created these character designs during the visual development stage:

Ozzy: prince of darkness

Ron: the older, naughty twin

Reg: the younger, oddball twin

Rocky: the gentle bulldog

Flamer: the streetwise fox

Carrot: the worldly cat

Alfie: the young new dog on the avenue

Stanley: the skeptical cat

Kristal: the beauty conscious poodle

Trampas: the quiet mongrel

All drawings were made with Prismacolor and Albrecht Durer coloured pencils on textured paper.

Learning to Fly

It's halloween this Sunday, so here's a four page comic, illustrated by me with words by Fiona Buck, about a witchling and her companions Stickwad and Titch:

Cat-like shapes x5

Here's the last set of drawings from my brief cat sketching session last weekend. I'd better make time for more sketching or I'll have nothing to post next week.
