Most of the gesture drawings I've been blogging are done in about 10 - 15 seconds on a moving tube carriage. It's a great exercise imho 'coz it keeps me foccussed on the essence of the character in the pose. i.e. the orientation of head, shoulders and hips and how they relate to eachother.
Gesture drawings also bring out an honest and immediate response from me - something I too easily lose in more detailed and laboured drawings.
