Another sketch I did on a wobbly tube ride.
Girl on tube
Although initially put off by how unstable a moving carriage can be, I've grown to enjoy the challenge of drawing on the tube. As an exercise it encourages me to be quick, to look out for the essence of the pose particularly through proportions, line of action and to see the gesture as a whole. Fundamental stuff.

In a weird way, drawing in this environment also makes me aware of the degree of control I usually demand over my physical tools when working in the studio. Oddly, in a more "controlled" environment I think I let some of the fundamental thinking slip.

So yes, I dig drawing on the tube now. What's next? Drawing on the high seas?
