We started Wednesday morning off with several 5 minute poses. The model frequently moved around the studio, settling on a different pose at varying distances from us, so it really came down to observing the movement within a pose ehile it was "paused" so to speak.
It took a little while to get into. The frequent repositioning of the subject took me out of my comfort zone, which is great because it really made me pay attention and see the gesture of a pose.
Sometimes all you can hope for is to find the line of action and some indication of foot placement for a sense of balance or space....before the next pose hits.
You also have to trust your instincts much more with short poses and dispense with all superflous details. A much looser way of working, a great way to start the day.
